Jesus at the Cross and His return to Earth
This is the end of Jesus's Earthly life and when He goes back to His Father in Heaven. Jesus suffered alot for us with what He went through. Something else that is important about Jesus that Jesus said was to take the Lord's Supper or Communion. "Do this in remembrance of Me" Jesus said. We take communion every Sunday morning in my Church.
Luke 22:17-20
17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
Jesus at the Cross
Matthew 27:27-66
36 Sitting down, they kept watch over Him
there. 37 And they put up over His head the
accusation written against Him:
THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 Then two robbers were crucified with
Him, one on the right and another on the left.
39 And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging
their heads 40 and saying, “You who destroy the
temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of
God, come down from the cross.”
41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with
the scribes and elders,[d]
said, 42 “He saved others; Himself He cannot
save. If He is the King of Israel,[e]
let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.[f]
43 He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if
He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him
reviled Him with the same thing.
Of course Jesus rose on the 3rd day from death. The Angel came and rolled back the stone and told the women "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said." Jesus stayed on Earth 40 days after his resurrection from the grave. We find this in:
Acts 1:1-3
1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.In the very end Jesus Ascended to His Father in Heaven.
Acts 1:9-11
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”There are a few scriptures that mention Jesus's return to Earth. We call it the rapture in the Church.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:51-58
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not
all sleep ( to see death ), but we shall all be
changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an
eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead
will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put
on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has
put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be
brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in
victory.”[a]
55 “ O
Death, where is your sting?[b]
O Hades, where is your
victory?”[c]
56 The sting of death is sin, and
the strength of sin is the law. 57 But
thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast,
immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is
not in vain in the Lord.
This scripture is in Revelation. This is towards the end of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. I think if I was left on Earth I would be scared to death of Jesus on the White Horse.
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and
behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and
True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12
His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His
head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew
except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a
robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14
And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him
on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a
sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule
them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His
robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.
This concludes our lesson on Jesus. You can see we have a very POWERFUL Savior who is able to help us in all things. Jesus is the best friend we could ever have. The scriptures talk about Jesus being able to sympathize with our weaknesses. Jesus went through many of the things we go through on a daily basis in our life so He knows how tough life gets at points. Thanks for joining us in this study of Jesus's life.
